Tyler and I drove in all sorts of weather on our way to Arizona. It was fun to see the snow become more and more sparse as we drove towards Oklahoma. When we turned towards the west coast, we began to notice how the trees became less sparse until we hit Flagstaff, AZ. That was a surprise for me. I had not realized before moving down here that, parts of Arizona are covered in snow and vegetation much like what I saw back in the Midwest. We had only a few hours left in our long 1,750 mile drive, when we were slowed by a heavy snowfall coming down just on the south side of Flagstaff. As we descended out of the mountains towards the desert, the snow turned to rain. I do not recall ever seeing a large native Saguaro cactus before this trip, but I know I will defiantly remember seeing them now. As we hit nightfall coming down out of the mountains, there where hundreds of thousands of these large black silhouettes that towered over the horizon. They were incredible and very exciting to see as we merged into Phoenix's city limits.
